NOTE: The Budget Sheet has been updated for ONE SESSION of the Summer 2019 program. Students must take the program course for zero or three credit hours. Should you participate in both sessions, there will be a $300 discount for the second session.

NOTE: Should students enroll in the UNL course for three credit hours, they will be charged UNL tuition/fees. Non-UNL participants must enroll as a visiting student at UNL, which carries a $45 application fee.

Program Cost includes:
Three meals per day (except on Saturdays), accommodations, in-country transportation to dig site, United Healthcare Global Insurance and program support.

Non-billable (out-of-pocket) Expenses: 
The non-billable (out-of-pocket) section is an estimate. Some of these expenses are “within your control” to some extent. They may be lower if you choose to be frugal or higher if you do not.
  • Out-of-Pocket Meals & Incidentals - Estimate includes: Miscellaneous daily expenses, books/supplies as needed, baggage fees (if applicable), and some meals (Saturdays), but not leisure (optional) travel.
  • Visa: Guidance will be provided by Dr. Michael Hoff as to the application process and necessary documentation.
Payment Schedule:
April 12, 2019: $500 commitment deposit made payable to UNL (by check, money order or credit card)
July 12, 2019 (Summer 2019 billing cycle): Billable balance due via MyRED Student Account

Withdrawal Policy:
If a participant withdraws from this program after paying the commitment deposit, the participant will be financially responsible for all non-recoverable costs associated with the program at the time of withdrawal, as well as the $150 Education Abroad Fee. Please note:
  • Non-recoverable costs vary by program and typically increase closer to the program start date.
  • Calculation of these costs may take time as the Education Abroad staff reviews the refund and cancellation policies of the program’s vendors (airlines, hotels, etc.).
  • Each committed participant is responsible for a portion of program costs that are divided evenly among all participants (chartered bus, tour guides, etc.). The participant’s portion of group costs is considered a non-recoverable cost.
  • The total non-recoverable amount may exceed the commitment deposit amount, in which case the participant will be billed the additional amount due.
