Course of Study

TUT offers students a wide variety of courses in English and it is one of the most international universities in Finland. TUT offers its students an opportunity for a broad, cross-disciplinary education in three faculties:

The Faculty of Business and Built Environment
The Faculty of Computing and Electrical Engineering
The Faculty of Engineering Sciences
The Faculty of Natural Science

Course Credit

Credits earned at foreign institutions are transferable to UNL by departmental validation. Please see "earning credit" page on UNL Education Abroad site for more information.

Eligibility

Students who have completed at least one college year and are in good academic standing are eligible to apply. A 3.0 GPA is preferred. Please meet with the UNL Exchange Coordinator to learn more about exchange programs and the placement process.


Location

TUT is located in Tampere, the Nordic countries' largest inland city, some 170 km north of the capital Helsinki. TUT's campus in the suburb of Hervanta is a community of 10,500 undergraduate and postgraduate students and close to 2,000 employees. Internationality is an inherent part of all the University's activities. Around 1,500 international students from more than 60 countries work or pursue studies at TUT.

Hervanta, population 26,000 is a large suburb of Tampere in Finland. Hervanta is sometimes called the Silicon Valley of Finland because of the high concentration of high tech companies in the area and the presence of the Tampere University of Technology. Hervanta is also known for its large number of apartment flats.


SingaporeAccommodations and Other Arrangements

TUT campus comprises six buildings with excellent services and facilities for all students. The campus is home to three student restaurants and four cafes that offer student discounts, an extensive library, a sports hall and a student health centre. TUT has a bustling campus life with more than 100 different student and sport associations. There's also a club especially intended for international students called ENS INTO. ESN INTO organizes various happenings to international and domestic students and its purpose is to bring international and Finns together. Trips to Lappland, Russia and other places are also organised by ESN INTO.

Deposit

Upon confirmation of nomination acceptance, program participants will pay a $150 commitment deposit. The $150 deposit will be applied to the final program cost balance. If a participant withdraws from a program, the participant will be responsible for any irrecoverable costs associated with the program at the time of withdrawal (including a non-refundable $150 Education Abroad Fee). 

Explanation of Costs

Exchange program participants pay tuition and fees to UNL for 15 credit hours at the appropriate resident or non-resident rate, plus a $150 Study Abroad Fee and other fees related to the exchange. Please see the Budget Sheet for a detailed explanation of program costs and the payment process.
